[3.3.x] Support Forum • I have no forums, why not?

I must be doing something really stupid, but I have no forums. And I don't know why not.

I was in the admin CP and I've added sub forums, but when I try and see them to create posts (logged on as admin or as a guest), all I get is "This board has no forums".

I did delete the 'Category' that came as default, but I'd created a forum before I did that.

Have I messed up? How can I get this fixed?

[edit - it's permissions and forum type - I had it set as a 'category' and it needed to be 'forum' plus I needed to explicity set permissions.]
